Learning for the Millennials

The debate continues over technology and learning. Today's traditional aged college students (Millennials) have (for the most part) been emersed in technology since birth. Some say they are the consummate mulitaskers. The Chronicle of Higher Ed has an interesting article on the subject.

After reading the article, check out the online discussion with Richard T. Sweeney, university librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Where do you fit into this argument? What issues are being overlooked? How does this situation impact the present and future of higher education?

Hurricane Blogging - deja vu

Only two years ago, I wrote about technology dependence during hurricane Isabel. Moving half way across the country has created a repeat performance as Hurricane Rita bears down on Texas.

Our dependence has not declined...perhaps it's greater. Everyone is cleaning out Wal-Mart of food, candles, batteries, etc. Fortunately, in this hurricane we are only to be cooped up with one teenager...instead of two like last time. Unfortunately, if the power goes, so does the computer.

Take care all...I'll keep you posted
